BIOGRAPHY
"Threshold" is a band of both new beginings and veteran history. In 2003 two sets of songwriters came together to forge a new sound, unique, heavy and melodic but still accessable. Will McCartney (guitars) and Ross McCartney (bass) had spent the 1990's trying to update a Rush / Iron Maiden / Tool progressive sound against a sea of grunge and nu-metal. While Neil Bernstein (vocals) was trying to find his voice in an alternative world. In the late 1990's Neil joined up with Colin Brown (drums) on a songwriting venture and by 2002 they were looking for a full band. Neil, Will and Ross were old friends. After a fateful jam night, a new partnership was born.
Originally called "Hunker Down", the four tried a different take on heavy music, all acoustic but dynamic, aggressive and melodic. They built up a small following on the local showcase scene but as the songs were deveolped, the limitations of an all acoustic set became evident. Will experimented with an electric guitar track on the song "Immortal Realm", and the result was an epiphany. The bands friends and fellow musicians loved the new sound and a decision was made to go all out. Their introspective reassessment fulfilled, the band explored their new, hard charging electric sound.
